There are many ways to describe gothic wallpaper for one's desktop. One can address its users, the color schemes, the display formats on the various media devices or the historical aspect.
There are many people whose personal pictorial taste can be exemplified in their use of gothic desktop wallpapers. Their usage also depicts the moods, feelings and era or period interest of the user. It does not reflect the age, educational level or profession of the user.
The color scheme may be vibrant and colorful or demure and gory. It may be bold and suggestive or fully abstract where one's imagination can interpret any theme that comes to mind. This is equally determined by the user. It is a personal flair and ardent usage by the user, which can oftentimes be dictated by the user's mood at any particular point in time. The colors can also be electronically altered based on the user's mood and software program available for enabling this aspect of the presentation.
Traditionally, gothic colors tend to be melodramatic using dark hues of black, brown, blue, purple and red. Sometimes a combination of these colors are used to depict an even more macabre scene of depth, death and darkness. Its usual theme focuses on trying to visualize depth and gore. On the other hand, gothic desktop wallpapers can be modernized and portrayed using eclectic color schemes. The shades can be vibrant red, yellow, orange or muted pastel shades of the same hue. This change might somehow deflect from the usual gore and emphasize the lines of the drawing rather than the era symbolism.
Gothic desktop wallpapers can be used to adorn the screen of any electronic medium. They can be displayed on iPhones, laptops, desktop computers, to name a few, or any other electronic device which has a screen to display them. The size of the screen varies depending on the electronic device and naturally will display differently in terms of views. A smaller screen might not convey the depth of the display as a larger screen would allow.
They also might be used as a slide-show and not only as a still form. As a slide show, they might be used as screen savers on multi-media electronic display devices. This allows the images to systematically move from picture to picture on a timed basis. Being used as a still form, they would be more picturesque and used as a stationary desktop wallpaper. At first glance, they might appear era-sensitive and might be offsetting for some people. The shapes and sizes depicted tend to be more gory based in theme.
They can also depict a historical representation of the past. It can be viewed as snapshots, collage or media slide shows. The period being interpreted dates back to the earlier medieval centuries when vampires were synonymous with the word gothic. The main theme in that era was all about gore, blood and darkness.
Gothic desktop wallpapers ultimately translate the feelings, moods and personal taste of their users and are not meant to do anything other than portray just that: their individual style in electronic displays.
